Courtney Parker and Evelyn Lozada, star of VH1′s reality show “Basketball Wives”,  worked together to create a story about a group of wives who are married to athletes who form The Wives Association to get away from the stress and gossip that comes with the wealth and fame. Each wife goes through some sort of scandal from cheating to pre-nups. Their are twists and turns throughout the book and it ends with a cliffhanger.

Courtney Parker Exclusive Interview with Co author of Inner Circle: Courtney Parker

I had a chance to read the book Inner Circle from The Wives Association series and it is truly an interesting read. It is hard to figure out what is “real” and what is fiction. If you are looking for a new and interesting read, I would give this one a shot as you will not b disappointed. I recently had the pleasure of asking Courtney Parker a few questions about her inspiration for writing the book, tips she may have for the inspired writer, and when book 2 might hit the shelves.

Where did the idea for the book come from?

The overall idea for The Association series existed a few years prior to me meeting Evelyn. It stemmed from a book I was writing with my aunt Yolanda Taylor that centered around a fictitious football league in Los Angeles and the wives that made up that organization. Meeting Evelyn added both a celebrity spin on it and some real-life drama that otherwise didn’t exist in our version of it.  Her real-life experiences and my natural imagination turned this project into a perfect marriage of the minds.

How did you and Evelyn Lozada write the book together? Did you work together or did you write ideas separately and then come together?

Again the shell of this project existed prior to me meeting Evelyn, yet when I met Evelyn and heard some of her real-life experiences I adjusted the book accordingly. In terms of our process, Evelyn has never professed to be a writer, she left that part completely up to me in terms of creativity, flow etc, however she was extremely open and honest with her experiences, her words and who she was which allowed me to take her words and create her alter-ego character Eve. Evelyn’s character evolved the more I got to know the real her.

Capture Exclusive Interview with Co author of Inner Circle: Courtney ParkerThe Inner Circle is the first book of a series. Are you two working on the next one now and if so, how early can we expect it to hit stores?

I’ve already outlined the second book but we only signed a one book deal so I’m not sure how that will play out. Creatively, I know what’s set to happen in book two so we’ll see how it goes. If it’s God’s will, it will happen.

For other writers out there, can you give any tips about writing and completing a novel?

My mentor and god-mother Victoria Christopher Murray nurtured my writing career from the beginning, she’s an award-winning author of seventeen+ novels and would always advise me to just stay true to my gifts. I truly believe that your gifts and talents make room for you, so if you honestly stay true to what God has planted on the inside of you, your gifts and talents to write and create will fulfill its promises and make room for you. Our talents are gifts, so my advice to a young writer is remain faithful in and to your gifts and never, ever, ever give up.

Finally, is there any events in the book that were “inspired by true events”?

I’ve said from the start, with Evelyn as my inspiration for completing this novel, fans won’t know where reality ends and fiction begins. LOL! In other words, if you find yourself reading a chapter or a scene that feels extremely real, then chances are it probably was.
